Breaking news: Tokyo cop fired for leaking information to hooker club

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on March 29 announced the dismissal of an assistant inspector for leaking information regarding potential activities to a prostitution club in Ota Ward, reports theSankei Shimbun (Mar. 29).

On December 21,Tomohiko Kakizoe, 45, once a member of the anti-organized crime division of Manseibashi Police Station, was relieved of his duties for sending an email to a Chinese masseuse, with whom he was engaged in an affair, that alerted the club to a potential raid of the establishment.

In January, Kakizoe was arrested for the alleged management of the massage parlor, which provided sexual services inside private rooms — a violation of the Anti-Prostitution Law. Kakizoe was also slapped with charges for violations of local government employee laws.

The suspect had reportedly denied the allegations. “I know that prostitution took place at the club, but I was not involved in the management,” Kakizoe was quoted by investigators.

Kakizoe was not formally prosecuted for the alleged crimes. On March 12, under a summary prosecution order, he was fined 60,000 yen.

The club was established in February of last year. A photograph implicating Kakizoe in the operation surfaced in May.

The former assistant inspector was in possession of a pass key to the club, and investigators believe that he received a part of the proceeds from the operation.

A veteran investigator of drug trafficking and organized crime, Kakizoe joined the force in 1987. He transferred to the Manseibashi Police Station in June of 2010.

“When a woman is arrested it is unfortunate,” said Kakizoe, “and I wanted to protect them. I am sorry for any trouble I caused the department.”
